Hey everyone, Snatcher and Nikki here! We’re a couple who share a love for the outdoors and all things camping. This past year has been filled with incredible adventures exploring campgrounds across North Carolina, and we wanted to share some of our highlights with you!

We kicked things off in April with an SUV Off-Road Camping trip in the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains. The challenge of navigating rough terrain with our trusty SUV was exhilarating, and the reward was setting up camp amidst stunning mountain vistas. We spent our days exploring hidden trails and our evenings huddled around a crackling campfire, sharing stories and enjoying the peacefulness of nature.
Next up was a visit to Paddy’s Creek Campground at Lake James State Park, also in April. This beautiful campground offered a different experience, with the serene lake perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding. We spent our days soaking up the sun on the water and our evenings grilling delicious meals under the starry sky.
Summer brought us to Bandit’s Roost Park Campground in Wilkes County. This rustic campground was ideal for getting back to basics. We enjoyed long hikes through the surrounding forests, evenings spent stargazing, and of course, campfires with classic s’mores for dessert.
As the leaves began to change color in October, we set up camp at Fort Hamby Park Campground, also in Wilkes County. The crisp autumn air was invigorating, and the colorful foliage created a magical backdrop for our camping adventure. We explored the historic Fort Hamby ruins and spent cozy nights by the fire, enjoying the warmth and the changing scenery.
Continuing our fall adventures, we visited Dan Nicholas Park Campground in Rowan County. This family-friendly campground offered plenty of activities, including a lake for swimming and fishing. We enjoyed trying our luck at catching a few fish for dinner, followed by relaxing evenings by the campfire, sharing stories and laughter.
November brought us to the unique Spacious Skies Hidden Creek Campground near Marion, NC. This secluded campground offered a “glamping” experience, with luxurious amenities like spacious campsites, hot showers, and even a swimming pool. We reveled in the comfort while still being surrounded by the beauty of nature.
For the holidays, we decided to try something different with a visit to the Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA Journey. This KOA offered a festive atmosphere with holiday decorations and fun activities. We enjoyed the convenience of amenities like laundry facilities and a camp store, while still getting that cozy camping feeling with our own fire pit and comfortable accommodations.
As winter approached, we ventured to the Midway Campground and RV Resort in Statesville, North Carolina. This campground provided a warm and welcoming escape during the colder months. We enjoyed the on-site amenities like a heated pool and hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the surrounding area.
Spring brought a new adventure to Deep Gap NC, where we tried Glamping unplugged. This unique experience allowed us to enjoy the comfort of a pre-set tent with amenities like comfortable beds and furniture, while still being completely off the grid. We spent our days exploring the surrounding wilderness and our evenings reconnecting with nature under the starry sky.
Finally, just this month in April, we visited River Creek Camp Ground in Rutherfordton, NC. This peaceful campground offered a relaxing getaway near the river. We enjoyed kayaking on the calm waters and exploring the nearby hiking trails. Sitting by the campfire at night, listening to the sounds of nature, was the perfect way to end a perfect day.
Looking back on this past year, we’ve realized how much joy camping has brought to our lives. It’s a chance to disconnect from the everyday hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories together. We’ve learned so much about ourselves and each other through these adventures, and we can’t wait to see what new campgrounds and experiences await us in the year ahead.
