What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?

One of the reasons Nikki and I decided to start a YouTube channel called Wherever We Land is to do what we love. There is an old saying: if you get paid to do what you love, it’s not work. We chose to do outdoor activities because they help us to maintain our health. We hike, canoe, ride bikes, etc.—it’s all about staying active, and it also helps with our mental well-being as well.

There is nothing more peaceful than reading your Bible devotional in the morning in the middle of the woods. I sometimes bring a book to help me gain knowledge and wisdom on these subjects.

Here are some strategies to maintain your health and well-being outdoors:

  • Find activities you enjoy. Whether it’s hiking, biking, swimming, or simply sitting in the park, choose activities that you find fun and rewarding.
  • Set realistic goals. Start with small goals and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your outdoor activities.
  • Make it a social activity. Invite friends or family to join you for outdoor adventures. This can make it more enjoyable and help you stay motivated.
  • Be mindful of your surroundings. Take time to appreciate the beauty of nature and the sounds of the outdoors. This can help reduce stress and improve your mood.
  • Protect yourself from the elements. Wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen, and stay hydrated.
  • Listen to your body. If you’re feeling tired or injured, take a break. It’s important to listen to your body and avoid overexertion.
  • Make it a habit. Try to spend time outdoors regularly, even if it’s just for a short walk. The more you do it, the easier it will become.
