What brings you peace?

There’s an old saying that if you love what you do, it’s not work. For me, that couldn’t be truer. Spending time with my wife, Nikki, is a constant source of joy, and when we get to do it outdoors, it’s pure bliss.

Just yesterday, we found ourselves at a lakeside, testing out a beach tent for Outdoor Master. It was work, yes, but it felt more like a leisurely afternoon. The sun dappled through the trees, casting shimmering patterns on the water. The gentle lapping of waves against the shore provided a soothing soundtrack. And the feel of warm sand between our toes grounded us in the moment.

It’s in these moments that I truly find peace. The combination of Nikki’s company, the natural beauty around us, and the engagement of my senses creates a perfect storm of tranquility. As the philosopher and naturalist Henry David Thoreau once said, “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach.”

There’s something undeniably restorative about immersing oneself in nature. It’s a chance to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with something deeper.

So, I wonder, what brings you peace? Is it the quiet of a solitary walk in the woods, the thrill of an outdoor adventure, or perhaps simply sharing quality time with loved ones?
