Wherever We Land

This might sound a bit self-centered, but my favorite artist is me. I know, I know. It’s a little narcissistic, but I’ve never really gotten into other artists. I guess you could say I’ve always been a bit of a lone wolf.

From a young age, I was what some would call “gifted.” I remember getting in trouble in third grade for drawing during class. Can you believe it? I was so into my drawings that I completely zoned out. The principal actually caught wind of my little artistic escapade and asked me to paint a mural on the school wall. It was a huge deal. I worked on it with another kid named Frank for weeks, and it turned out pretty cool. We painted prehistoric times – dinosaurs, plants, the whole nine yards. It was a lot of fun, mostly because I didn’t have to do any schoolwork.

That wasn’t the end of my artistic adventures, though. In junior high, I was asked to join a group of students to design and build a sculpture. It was a pretty big project, and it even made the local news. I was also involved in a few talent shows, where I showed off my rapping and dancing skills. I remember feeling a bit robbed one year when I came in second place, but hey, you win some, you lose some.

Fast forward to my adult life, and I’ve continued to pursue my artistic passions. I’ve done some pretty cool stuff, and I’m grateful for the talents God has given me. Nowadays, I’m more focused on using my abilities to give God the glory and make a difference. It’s a fulfilling way to live, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
