Wherever We Land

In the tapestry of life, there are certain threads that weave together the most beautiful patterns. These threads are often principles, values, or beliefs that guide our actions and shape our character. For me, two such principles have been instrumental in my journey: Putting God above all and loving my neighbor.

These two commandments, as articulated by Jesus Christ in the King James Bible, form the cornerstone of my faith. When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus replied, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Mark 12:29-31)

A wise person once shared with me that if I lived by these two principles, I would inherently follow all the other commandments. This profound insight has resonated deeply with me. When God is at the center of my life, my actions are guided by His love and wisdom. When I love my neighbor as myself, I treat others with kindness, compassion, and respect.

Putting God above all means recognizing His sovereignty and seeking His will in every aspect of my life. It involves praying, reading His Word, and striving to live according to His teachings. It means trusting in His plan, even when things don’t go as expected.

Loving my neighbor means extending grace, forgiveness, and support to those around me. It means being a friend, a mentor, and a servant to others. It means advocating for justice and equality, and working to create a more compassionate world.

These two principles have not only provided me with a sense of purpose and direction but have also brought me immeasurable joy and fulfillment. They have helped me to overcome challenges, build meaningful relationships, and live a life that is truly worthwhile.

As I continue on my journey, I am committed to living by these two great commandments. They are a constant reminder of the importance of faith, love, and service. They are a guiding light that illuminates my path and helps me to navigate the complexities of life.
