Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?
As a teenager, I found myself standing on stages under bright lights, holding a microphone, ready to sing songs by Mariah Carey and SWV. Talent shows were my escape — a place where I could shed my introverted shell and come alive in front of an audience. It was exhilarating, transforming into someone bold and confident with every note I sang.
Offstage, I was quiet, reserved, and content being in the background. But something magical happened when I performed. The music gave me permission to be free, to express emotions I often kept bottled up. The applause and encouragement from the audience fueled my passion, making me realize that even introverts have a stage where they can shine.
Fast forward to today, and not much has changed. I’m still an introvert at heart, preferring quiet moments and intimate conversations. But when the camera rolls for our YouTube channel, *Wherever We Land*, that same spark ignites within me. Speaking to our YouTube family feels similar to standing on that stage years ago — stepping outside of myself to share stories, camping adventures, and our faith journey.
The stage and the camera are different platforms but offer the same outlet for connection and expression. It’s where I let my passion speak louder than my introversion. And every time I hit “record,” I’m reminded of the girl who sang her heart out on stage, discovering that being introverted doesn’t mean staying silent. It means finding the right moments — and the right audience — to share your voice.
I thank God for blessing me with the gift of singing as a way to express myself. Through every performance, past and present, He has given me the courage to step outside of my comfort zone and use my voice to connect, inspire, and uplift. For that, I am forever grateful.
