My wife, Nikki, and I are avid campers. We love the tranquility of the wilderness, the crackling of the fire, and the simple joy of spending quality time together under the stars. One October evening, we found ourselves nestled in a picturesque campsite, the air crisp and the leaves ablaze with autumnal colors. We had set up camp, the fire was roaring, and we were savoring a delicious dinner of lamb – a simple pleasure we both cherished.

As we relaxed by the fire, reflecting on the beauty of our surroundings, a strange sense of peace and contentment washed over me. It was as if something profound was happening, something beyond the ordinary. Later, while reading the Bible, a thought struck me: we had unknowingly been celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles!

The Feast of Tabernacles, a joyous biblical festival, commemorates the time when the Israelites lived in temporary dwellings during their journey through the wilderness. It’s a time of rejoicing and gratitude, a time to dwell in temporary shelters and connect with nature. And there we were, living in our temporary tent, enjoying the bounty of the earth, and sharing a meal under the open sky – unknowingly mirroring the very essence of this ancient celebration.

This unexpected realization was a powerful reminder of God’s presence in our lives. It showed me how, when we open our hearts and minds to Him, He reveals Himself in the most unexpected ways. As the Bible says, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

That camping trip became more than just a weekend getaway. It became a spiritual experience, a reminder of God’s faithfulness and His ability to weave His presence into the fabric of our everyday lives.
