What do you complain about the most?
If there’s one thing I find myself complaining about the most, it’s how limited our camping trips are because of our full-time jobs. Don’t get me wrong—I’m grateful for our job and the time we do have to camp. Snatcher and I have fully embraced the weekend warrior lifestyle, packing up our gear and hitting the road every chance we get. But oh, how wonderful it would be to have just one extra day!
Imagine it: a four-day workweek. It’s not an impossible dream—some companies are already implementing it with great success. For us, that extra day would mean more time to truly unwind, more time to explore, and most importantly, the ability to celebrate the Sabbath out in God’s creation. There’s nothing like waking up in the middle of the woods, hearing the birds sing, and feeling the morning breeze as we open our Bibles and reflect on His word without the rush of having to pack up and head home.
As it stands, we’ve mastered the art of quick getaways. We pack efficiently, plan our meals, and squeeze as much adventure into Saturday night through Sunday afternoon as humanly possible. But the call of the wild doesn’t quiet down just because Monday is looming.
I know we’re not alone in this. Many fellow campers would love to extend their trips but find themselves tethered to the traditional five-day workweek. Maybe one day, we’ll get to the point where we can take longer trips—perhaps even full-time travel in our van, GLO. But until then, we’ll continue making the most of our weekends, cherishing every sunrise, every campfire, and every moment we get to spend outdoors.
What about you? Would a four-day workweek make a difference in your ability to explore and recharge? Let me know in the comments!
