What is one word that describes you?
If you had asked me years ago what word best described me, I might have said thoughtful, reserved, or even cautious. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that the word that fits me best now is adventurous.
That might surprise some people, especially those who knew me before Wherever We Land became a reality. I wasn’t always the person who sought out new places, embraced the unknown, or saw challenges as opportunities. But through the years, I’ve learned that life is too short to sit still.
Embracing the Unknown
Being adventurous doesn’t just mean climbing mountains or jumping out of airplanes (which, let’s be honest, is not on my to-do list). It means embracing the unknown, stepping outside of comfort zones, and saying yes to things I once thought were impossible.
I’ve gone from someone who was unsure about camping to someone who loves setting up a tent in the middle of the woods. I’ve gone from someone who was afraid of deep water to someone who now believes that, through faith, I can learn to swim. I’ve gone from a life that felt predictable to one that is filled with unexpected road trips, quiet mornings by the campfire, and now, the challenge of converting a van into a home on wheels.
Taking the Leap
Every adventure—big or small—has taught me something. Whether it’s learning how to cook over an open fire, navigate a backcountry trail, or figure out how to build storage in Glo, I’ve discovered that I’m capable of so much more than I once believed. And the best part? I’m not doing it alone.
Snatcher and I have turned our adventures into a way of life, and through our YouTube channel and blog, we get to share them with you. Every time we hit the road, every time we learn something new, and every time we overcome a challenge, we’re reminded that this adventurous life is exactly where we’re meant to be.
The Adventure Continues
Getting older doesn’t mean slowing down—it means stepping into the person God is shaping me to be. It means trusting that every adventure, every challenge, and every unknown path is leading somewhere beautiful.
So, if I had to choose one word to describe myself now, it would be adventurous. And I can’t wait to see where the next adventure takes me.
