How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?
What’s up, Outside Gang! Snatcher here, and let me tell you, this van build journey has been a wild ride. Right now, I’m deep in the trenches of electrical wiring for our camper van, Glo. We’re talking 12V and 120V, running lines for lights, outlets, the whole power station shebang. It’s intense, it’s challenging, and honestly? It’s where I’m meant to be.
This whole process has taught me something incredibly valuable: sometimes, you have to say “no” to a lot of things to truly say “yes” to your dreams.
You see, building this van isn’t just about the nuts and bolts, the 18-gauge wire for 12V or the 10-gauge for 120V. It’s about building a life. A life where we can chase the horizon, where we can connect with nature, where we can truly live.
And to get there, I’ve had to make choices. I’ve had to say “no” to distractions, to the easy path, to the things that pull me away from this vision. There have been moments of frustration, of course. Figuring it out as we go, dealing with the trials, the errors, the occasional wiring mishap… it’s not always glamorous.
But in those moments, I remind myself why I started. I think of the open road, the freedom, the adventure. That vision fuels me. It helps me push through the tough stuff, the moments when I want to throw in the towel.
This van build has become a powerful lesson in focus. It’s taught me that every “yes” has a price. To say “yes” to this dream, I’ve had to say “no” to other things vying for my time and energy.
It’s not always easy. Saying “no” can feel like you’re missing out. But I’ve learned that true fulfillment comes from investing deeply in what truly matters. It’s about aligning your actions with your values, even when it’s hard.
So, to anyone out there chasing a dream, whether it’s building a van, starting a business, or pursuing a passion, remember this: Focus is your superpower. Don’t be afraid to say “no” to the things that don’t serve your vision.
And to all of you who are supporting this journey – thank you. Your encouragement, your donations (shoutout to Steve!), your comments, your subscriptions… it means the world. We’re building this community together, and I’m grateful for every single one of you.
Keep chasing your dreams, keep saying “yes” to what truly matters, and remember, God’s got us wherever we land.
