If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
Alright, y’all, gather ’round the digital campfire, and let me tell you a story. It ain’t no yarn spun by the Mississippi, but it’s got that same wild, free spirit. You know me, Nikki, and my better half, Snatcher. We’ve always been the type to chase sunsets and find adventures in the most unexpected places. And lately, we’ve been dreaming big, real big.

Picture this: What if, just what if, we could leap right into the pages of a book or onto the silver screen? Not just as background extras, mind you, but as the main characters? We’ve been kicking around the idea, and honestly, the thought of being Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, but as a married couple, Nikki and Snatcher, has us grinning like possums eating persimmons.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Tom and Huck? Two rambunctious boys? Well, we ain’t boys, and we ain’t looking for buried treasure (though, who’d say no to that?). We’re looking for that same untamed spirit, that sense of adventure that whispers through the trees and sings in the river. We crave that “get lost and find yourself” kind of journey.
Snatcher, bless his heart, he’s got that Huck-like knack for building rafts out of whatever’s handy and fishing with a line made of… well, let’s just say creative materials. And me? I’ve got that Tom Sawyer charm, always finding a way to turn chores into grand escapades, even if it means convincing folks to paint a fence for me. https://youtube.com/shorts/Zk2VEinNlLg?feature=share
Imagine us, Nikki and Snatcher, drifting down a river, not the mighty Mississippi, but maybe a hidden creek winding through a forgotten forest. We’d build a ramshackle cabin, not on Jackson’s Island, but maybe up in a giant redwood, where the stars feel close enough to touch. We’d face down bullies, not Injun Joe, but maybe some city slickers trying to steal our peace. We’d have our own version of the cave adventures, exploring abandoned mines and secret waterfalls.
And through it all, we’d have our rock, our anchor, our North Star: Joshua 1:9, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Why this dream is so darn appealing:
● Freedom: The idea of escaping the daily grind and embracing a life of unbridled freedom is like a sweet, sweet melody.
● Adventure: We’re talking real, honest-to-goodness adventure, the kind that makes your heart race and your spirit soar.
● Connection: Imagine the bond we’d forge, facing challenges together, relying on each other, and discovering the strength of our love in the wild.
● Faith: No matter where we land, we know that God’s got our backs, and that’s the greatest adventure of all.
So, if you see two dusty wanderers with a twinkle in their eyes and a raft made of driftwood, give us a wave. It might just be Nikki and Snatcher, living our best Tom and Huck life, guided by faith and a whole lot of gumption.
Who knows where God will land us next? But wherever it is, it’ll be a story worth telling. And you know, you’re welcome to be a part of it.
