Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

There’s an old saying that always brings a wry smile to my face: “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” It’s a humbling reminder of the beautiful unpredictability of life, and honestly, it resonates deeply with where we are right now. So, asking me where we’ll be in ten years? Well, let’s just say the future is an open road, guided by something much bigger than my meticulously crafted to-do lists.

But while the long-term map is delightfully blurry, the present is crystal clear and brimming with excitement. Right now, as I type this, nestled comfortably in our makeshift bed, we are on our very first adventure in our beloved Dodge Ram ProMaster. We’ve affectionately named her Glo, and she is currently undergoing a transformation into our dream camper van.

The scent of sawdust and possibility hangs in the air. Tools are scattered (organized chaos, I assure you!), and the walls are slowly but surely taking shape. Glo isn’t finished, not by a long shot. But even in this state of beautiful disarray, the potential is palpable. I can already envision lazy mornings with the doors flung open, the aroma of coffee mingling with the fresh scent of nature. I see cozy evenings under starry skies, the gentle hum of our little home on wheels lulling us to sleep.

The truth is, ten years from now, the possibilities are endless. Lord willing, we’ll be living a great life, wherever that may lead us. Maybe we’ll be seasoned vanlifers, embarking on our second or even third camper conversion build, each one a testament to lessons learned and dreams refined. Perhaps our adventures will have taken us to corners of the country (or even the world!) we can’t even imagine yet.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned through this journey, even in its early stages: the real magic lies in the “right now.” This gift of the present, as I see it, is where God truly resides. It’s in the challenges and the triumphs of this build, in the unexpected detours and breathtaking vistas we encounter on these initial trips. It’s in the simple joy of waking up in a new and beautiful place, knowing that our home travels with us.

This camper van conversion isn’t just about creating a mobile living space; it’s about embracing a lifestyle. It’s about slowing down, appreciating the small moments, and trusting the journey. It’s about letting go of rigid plans and allowing life to unfold in its own perfect timing.

So, while I can’t give you a definitive answer about our location a decade from now, I can tell you with certainty where our hearts are: firmly planted in the present, soaking up every bit of this incredible adventure with Glo. We’re learning, growing, and experiencing the beauty of a life lived intentionally, one mile and one DIY project at a time. And honestly, that’s a plan even the universe can get behind.
