Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
My favorite quote has always been *Philippians 4:13 (KJV): “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”* It’s more than just a memory verse—it’s a lifeline. Whenever I find myself facing something tough, whether at work, in daily life, or deep in the woods on a camping trip, this verse is what I lean on. It reminds me that I don’t have to rely solely on my own strength—I have the strength of Christ walking with me, lifting me up when I start to feel unsure or overwhelmed.
It’s easy to trust God when everything is going smoothly. But it’s in those unpredictable moments—like when I’m knee-deep in a tough work decision, or when I’m setting up camp in the rain, battling wind and cold, wondering why in the world I thought camping was a good idea—that Philippians 4:13 becomes real. It’s in those moments that I have to stop, breathe, and say to myself, “You can do this. Not because you’re superwoman, but because Christ is your strength.”
And now, I’ve got another opportunity to put this scripture to the test—Snatcher is taking me on our first real dispersed camping trip. No campground hosts. No bathroom. No electric hookups. Just us, our gear, and God’s creation. I’ll be honest—there’s a mix of excitement and nerves stirring in my heart. I love nature, but the idea of being completely off-grid comes with challenges I’ve never had to face before.
Will I be cold? Will I hear strange sounds at night? Will I be able to cook, clean, and stay calm without my normal comforts? Those questions have definitely crossed my mind. But here’s what I keep coming back to: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” That means I can adapt, I can learn, and I can trust that whatever happens out there, I’m not alone.
This trip will test more than my camping skills. It will test my faith, my patience, and my ability to stay rooted in the Word even when the world around me is nothing but wilderness. But I’m ready—or at least I’m willing. Because when Christ is your strength, willingness is enough to get you started, and He’ll carry you the rest of the way.
So if you’re reading this and facing your own kind of dispersed camping trip—whether literal or metaphorical—remember this: it’s okay to feel unprepared. It’s okay to not have all the answers. What matters is knowing who does have the answers and trusting Him to walk with you through the unknown.
Let’s go, Snatcher. I may be stepping out of my comfort zone, but I’m stepping out in faith.
