Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
There’s a simple joy that fills my soul, and it starts with spending time with the God of my fathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—out in nature, alongside my amazing wife. Whether we’re nestled in the mountains, parked by a peaceful lake, or deep in the forest under a sky full of stars, I’ve found that camping is more than just a getaway. It’s sacred ground. It’s our altar. It’s where God meets us again and again.
Each time we load up our gear, I’m reminded that this life is a gift, and the time we spend with Him doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, the beauty is in its simplicity.
A Sacred Space in Nature
Out in the wild, there’s no Wi-Fi, no traffic, no noise—just the whisper of the wind and the Word of God in our hearts. My wife and I have made it a habit to read Scripture together while the fire crackles beside us. These aren’t rushed devotionals squeezed in between work and errands. These are moments of true connection—between us and with our Creator.
We sit, we listen, we pray, and we reflect. Sometimes we speak deep truths; other times we just sit in silence, letting His presence wrap around us like a blanket. And every time, without fail, I leave the woods more whole than I entered.
Sharing the Journey: Wherever We Land
The joy we experience out there doesn’t end when we pack up camp. We bring those moments home and share them through our YouTube channel: Wherever We Land. It started as a small idea—a way to document our travels and testimonies. But over time, it’s become a ministry of sorts.
We film the real moments: setting up tents in the rain, cooking over open flames, reading the Word under a starlit sky, and laughing until our sides hurt. We also capture the quiet reflections, the answered prayers, and the spontaneous worship. Our videos are our way of saying, “Come and see what God is doing—out here, in the wilderness, and in us.”
It’s humbling to know that these videos encourage others. Some write to us saying they’ve started camping again. Others say they’ve picked up their Bibles after years. All we did was share what brings us joy.
Why This Matters
In a world that moves too fast, we’ve chosen to slow down. We’ve chosen the simple over the flashy. We’ve chosen obedience and rest. Spending time with God doesn’t require a pulpit or a perfect schedule. Sometimes it just needs a tent, a Bible, and a willing heart.
Every trip, every video, every shared moment is a declaration: This is joy. This is peace. This is life with God.
And to anyone reading this who’s longing for a reset, for a deeper connection, or even just a breath of fresh air—I invite you to follow our journey on Wherever We Land. Come along for the ride. Share the joy. Meet with God in the stillness.
🙌🏾 Because sometimes the most powerful moments in life are the simplest.
