How do you express your gratitude?
Every time we pack up for another camping trip, I feel a quiet stirring in my spirit—a reminder that I’m not just going out into nature to escape the noise, but to reconnect with the One who created it all. For me, camping is not just a hobby—it’s a way of expressing gratitude to God.
When we set up our tent or settle into our van, GLO, I make it a point to pause and take in the beauty that surrounds us. Whether it’s the rustling leaves, the breeze against my face, or the sound of water flowing nearby, I see it all as a personal gift from the Creator. Nature becomes my sanctuary. My gratitude begins in the stillness, in those quiet moments when I feel God’s presence stronger than ever.
Each morning, I open my eyes and thank God for another day of breath, adventure, and time with Snatcher. Before the coffee brews or the fire gets lit, I whisper Hallelujah and look up at the trees, the sky, the clouds moving gently overhead. It’s my way of saying, “Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to be here.” No alarms, no emails—just grace and peace.
I often take walks through the woods while we camp, and during those moments, I speak out loud to God, thanking Him for the strength in my legs, the clarity in my mind, and the joy in my heart. I don’t need a church pew or a microphone—just a trail and a heart willing to praise.
Mealtime is another way we give thanks. Whether we’re cooking on an open fire or warming up leftovers from our mobile freezer, we bless the food and thank God for His provision. There’s something sacred about eating in the open air, knowing every bite is a blessing.
Even when it rains or plans shift, I’ve learned to say thank You. Gratitude doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. Sometimes, the lessons are in the inconveniences. And in those moments, I remind myself that being outdoors, rain or shine, is a part of the journey I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Camping allows me to slow down and reflect. To look at my life and say, “I see You, God. I feel You. And I thank You.” From the glow of the campfire to the silence under the stars, I carry gratitude in my heart, knowing I’m right where I’m supposed to be—surrounded by creation, giving thanks to the Creator.
So the next time you see a video of us out in the woods or by a lake, know that behind the camera is a woman full of praise, soaking in the moment, and giving thanks every step of the way!
